Opinions are a Dangerous thing: Art StylesThis isn't about narking on anyone no, infact this is just my own muses really! You could say this is a journal for ENCOURAGEMENT! *SHINES*
I find sticking to one style restrictive if you are a beginning/moderate artist! (even professionals I might say! though I can't speak for everyone)
Having a distinctive look on how your art is done and produced is understandable and its a desire to appear unique to the point some one can just SEE your work and instantly think 'Oh! that's Ten-days!' or something along the line. However, when you are trying to find who you are and what kind of art you are to produce, I recommend trying, well, a lot of different things! Different styles, mixing styles, different colouring techinque, brushes, tools, shading. Don't feel dependant on what you are already doing and don't feel pressured by people just for trying new things!
Push out of your comfort zone. Can't draw hands? don't avoid it! draw the heck out of them! (how else are you going to learn?)

Eurovision nightGot myself some ice cream and will be making myself compfy on the sofa so I'm ready for the big, glittery, horrible music, camp, pointless politics, drama that is eurovision. It never disappoints me.

Nintendo STEALS Money!Since this has been going around lately, I should probably give my two cents. Basically what it amounts to is that Nintendo has filed Content ID info of their games with YouTube. What this means is that if you upload gameplay video of a Nintendo game, YouTube will automatically monetize that video, put ads on it, a link to where to buy the game, and take the money generated from that video and give it directly to Nintendo. People who do "let's play" videos are, naturally, pissed off because they want to be earning money off their videos, so they're calling Nintendo "thieves" for doing this.
I can see both sides to the story. I can see Nintendo as a corporation wanting to exercise control over their properties. On the other hand, "let's play" videos can often help new gamers find games they otherwise wouldn't have tried.
But here's the thing: Nintendo isn't the first company do this. Both Microsoft and Ubisoft do it already. YouTube has also had a long history of having music videos and

four art shows in september!?!? actually, my right arm and hand is blown out. so much work done this summer. anyways, here they are...

sept.11 "frame show" at the Autobody gallery from 7 - 10pm 1517 park st. alameda ca

sept. 12 "group show" at the java lounge 6 - 8pm in sacramento ca

sept. 19 "senses working overtime" at the studio x gallery in sacramento ca

so there you go... that's it....til october, a few more art shows then too....and in november & december,...fuck it. godnight.

Take care of that arm and hand. I did the same thing two years ago and screwed up my elbow right good. Take breaks, stretch, eat, sleep, etc. and lather, rinse, repeat.

holy shit! i need surgery! ulnar nerve entrapment. my soul hurts. i burned out my arm by doing so much detailed work for the last 20+ years. i feel like crying every 20 minutes. after this ordeal i may never draw the same....if at all.

Oh dude, I am sorry. I sort of know the feeling, though yours sounds more severe. I had a cortisone injection about 2 months ago, but I'm back to feeling the twinge of pain in my right elbow. It's a pain in the ass.

are you right handed too? my thing is a nerve thing. my hand gets tingly. especially the pinky and ring finger. sounds like you have a tendon thing if they are giving you steroids...

I am. My left hand is only really good for typing and holding paper down while I cut it.

My dad and brother had the nerve issue and and had to have the ulna nerve relocated to the outside of their elbow. Mine is totally a tendon issue, too much of a death grip when I hold pens/x-actos/pencils.

how did their surgeries work out? i have to admit, i'm more than a little scared. they still have to do the electric pulse test to determine location and extent of damage...

Good in both cases. My dad was not young when he had the surgery and had other complications (a fused wrist due to arthritis), but the surgery stopped the pain and prevented further atrophy of the muscle in his hand.

My brother is only a few years older than me and had the surgery a few years ago. He had tingling and pain in his hand and the surgery fixed that and he returned to normal activity.

I'd be nervous too. Surgery of any kind is a little unnerving. Good luck and let me know how you make out with the test!
